The 2008 MIT (Made in Taiwan) Fine Products Sales Event, that was arranged to promote and support local products, was held from November 7 to 9, outside the --inyi New Life Square Shin Kong Mitsukoshi department store in the Taipei City.

The three day event was organized by the Industrial Development Bureau (IDB) together with the Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI), the Taiwan Textile Research Institute (TTRI), the Taiwan Textile Federation (TTF) and the Footwear & Recreation Technology Research Institute (FRTRI).

From funky fashions to high-tech functional sportswear and cycling gear, all Taiwan made, were displayed in around 88 stalls.

The three-day event ran in confluence with the 2008 Textile Achievement Exhibition, which featured a series of fashion shows and exhibitions, to entertain the visitors. The 7th Design for Asia Creative Bag Design Award and the 2nd Project Bornway shoe design competition stole the show.

The Textile Achievement Show showcased the latest high-tech functional sports and leisure apparel by the Material & Chemical Research Laboratories of ITRI, Ling Tung University’s Department of Fashion Design, and innovative elastics manufacturer Eclat Textile Co Ltd.

The New Generation Designer Show and the 2008 Young Fashion Designers Creativity Joint Exhibition put the spotlight on budding designers from IDB’s Textile Design Institute as well as England’s De Montfort University.

Products that were offered here have been developed by Taiwanese small and medium enterprises. These high quality products were safe, beautifully designed, and could be purchased at reasonable price.

Considering the foot falls the event had attracted, it can be said that the three day gala was a successful one.
